AMS Member means the school has joined the American Montessori Society and affirms alignment with Montessori principles, but has not (yet) completed AMS's formal accreditation review — membership alone doesn't verify classroom practice.

Verify directly at amshq.org/schools using the school's name and city.

Accreditation is not the same as an operating licence. A provincial/state child care licence or private school registration only confirms a school is legally allowed to operate — it says nothing about whether the teaching method is Montessori.

Teacher credentials matter too. Ask how many lead teachers hold AMI, AMS, or MACTE-accredited teacher training — a strong signal independent of the school's own accreditation status.
